The SECOND sexiest man!

   5.8.2011

I got this nice magazine today in the mail. The magazine is called “Eeva” and it’s one of my favorite magazines nowadays. They had an election earlier this summer where they elected the sexiest men of Finland. Apparently they thought that I am the second sexiest, after Tommy Fränti. Now of course you’re wondering who reads this magazine, and I can say that it doesn’t really matter as long as I know that my mother doesn’t. So please enjoy the article and my sexiness! I wish I’d gotten a price for this so I could put it on the shelf as the most prestigious thing I’ve achieved in my life so far.

Oh c’mon ;)

Back from Sweden!

   4.8.2011

Hello everybody! I’m back from Sweden now, enjoying the finnish August sun! Last weekend was a really busy one. It started out on Friday at 5AM when I went to Oulu with my band to play at Qstock. We had a really great time there and it was great to see that people showed up to see us even though the gig was so early, thanks for that!
On Saturday we continued our journey to Tiiranlinna in Raahe, where we played later that evening. We had a good time even though the city seemed to be completely empty.. And It was really nice to have gigs with the whole band for a change, it’s so much more fun!

On Monday morning I took a morning flight to Gothenburg. I participated in the show “Lotta på Liseberg”, which is a huge outdorr-singalong-evening-show-thingy, hosted by Lotta Engberg. We had some practices during the day, and I got to meet Danny Saucedo and Arja Saijonmaa. I also got to meet Stella Mwangi and A friend in London again! They were all really nice, and I got really impressed by Danny’s great singing, and the fact that he writes his own songs. A very nice guy! Anyways, be sure to check out my performance of Da da dam here!

Happy Sunday!

   24.7.2011

So it’s Sunday again, just like yesterday and the day before. So it’s time you get your daily dose of this. And remember that tomorrow, and the other days of the week that people don’t consider as Sundays, you should call radio stations and say that you want to hear my song Sunday Everyday! The more you harass them, the better. Let’s make every day Sunday together!

This weekend has been really nice, even though it’s been some traveling. On Friday we went to Jakobstad with Lukas, where we had a show at the Watt’s up Festival during Jakobs Dagar. It was a really nice yard in the city where there was a big stage. We played some songs with Dennis Rönngård’s band and some songs as a duet. It was great to play with these guys who we had never played with before! It really gave a nice flavour to my songs. Thanks to the band! I’d also like to thank everyone who showed up to see us play! It was really nice to see all of you there.

On Saturday we went back south, to play at Varella in my hometown Kirkkonummi. We played quite late in the evening, and it was really hot in the small place, but we really enjoyed it! It was great to get to play with my whole band again: Kaisa, Erik, Mikko and Lukas. It’s really something different when you hear the whole band live! Thanks to everyone who came to see us!

Kiitos kaikille. Ett stort tack till alla!

Vegas Sommarpratare

   14.7.2011

A few weeks back I went to a studio in Pasila to be part of a radio show called Sommarpratare (“Summer talker”). The idea is that the guest has 50 minutes to do whatever he or she wants to do on the radio. There turned out to be some boundaries though. I wasn’t allowed to silently play chess the whole time, and I wasn’t allowed to play all of the songs that I’ve written either. You can imagine how hard it was for me to come up with something else to do. Finally I went for talking about myself and playing songs that have affected me through the years. It turned out to be quite fun, and a reminder of what I’ve listened to when I was younger. If your skills in the swedish language are adequate then I suggest you listen to the show here. If not, then you can enjoy the music!

A nice weekend behind!

   12.7.2011

Last weekend was really great! Me and Lukas drove to Imatra where we played at BarQ. It was a nice loungy place with a warm atmosphere. Not even the fact that we played without monitoring stopped us from having fun!

Our trip continued on Saturday when we drove to Turku to play at Ruisrock, one of the biggest music festivals in Finland. The weather was really nice and a lot of people showed up to watch us play our acoustic set on the Pikkulava. Thanks to everyone who was sober enough to find their way to the stage, and thanks to the lovely stage hosts!

Directly after Ruisrock we had to get to Possujuhlat (pigparty) in Degerby where we were playing later that evening. We got there (almost) in time and played for a packed audience there as well! Thanks to Kisu for arranging the party, and of course thanks to you who showed up!

We still played one gig on Sunday at Paimenenmäen maalaismarkkinat in Yläne, Pöytyä. It was a nice agricultural- festival-thingy in the middle of the beautiful finnish countryside. A relaxed atmosphere and a lot of enthusiastic people really made us enjoy, thank you!

A busy weekend

   3.7.2011

A long weekend is soon behind. For my part it started on Friday morning when me and my pianist, Lukas Kristo, started to drive up to Hyrynsalmi to Villi Vonkka, where we had a gig. The long drive went well and we found a beautiful place with a long sand beach and a lake in the middle of the forrest. The stage was located right next to the lake on the beach, and people were standing all around the place, listening. A lot of people turned up to hear us play, and it really warmed my heart to see so many people just come to hear me play! Thanks to everyone who turned up and a huge thanks to Aki, the owner, who took care of us so well. If you’re ever in the neighborhood I recommend you go visit his place, it’s beautiful!

Our trip continued on Saturday, as we drove to Kaustinen where we had a gid at Viihderavintola Konsta. Thanks to everyone who turned up there as well, and especially those who so enthusiastically thanked me after the show. You make me feel like I’m doing the right thing in life!

New Pictures and gigs!

   30.6.2011

When I was in Düsseldorf a few months ago, I had a photo sessions with Sigurd Zepter. He just told me to stand on the street and do what I wanted as he modestly took a few photos. He had the coolest camera I’ve ever seen and the pictures turned out G-R-E-A-T! You can see some on his website and some can be found in my facebook album. A big thanks to Sigurd for these great shots!

I have some live performances coming up this weekend that you shouldn’t miss if you’re in the neighborhood. On Friday i’m performing at 10pm at Villi Vonkka, an idyllic place in the middle of the Finnish forrests, in Kainuu. And on Saturday I will perform after midnight at Viihderavintola Konsta in Kaustinen. See you there!

Radio Nostalgia

   25.6.2011

The last few weeks I haven’t just been lying on the beach relaxing as you might think. I’ve also done some radio shows! A few weeks back I visited a station called radio Nostalgia. I had a nice chat about music and Eurovision with Jami Kananen, the host. He wanted to play a song from Sunday Songs but he didn’t have the record. Luckily I happened to have my guitar with me, so I played an acoustic afternoon version of Sunday Everyday, the new single! You can hear the whole interview, with the live performance of Sunday Everyday in the end HERE.

Kaisafest

   22.6.2011

I guess summer is here now. It’s been raining in Finland, but the sun has also showed itself from time to time. I’ve been playing some gigs, a few solo ones and some with my band. And for those who don’t know, my band consists of Kaisa Mäensivu (bass), Erik Heikkinen (Drums), Lukas Kristo (piano) and Mikko Malmivaara (guitar). The latest gig we had was at Kaisafest last Sunday. We played as a supporting artist for James Blunt. We played in a huge tent filled with people, while the rain was pouring down outside. We had the honor to have Sansa with us on stage, singing Stupid little fool! She’s the one who also sings on the album! Thanks to everyone who showed up, we had a lot of fun. And thanks to James and also Egotrippi who performed there aswell!
PS. You can find bootlegs from the show on youtube ;)
